Last updated: June 22, 2025

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using Credote (“we,” “us,” or “our”), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our business credit reporting and invoice default filing services operated by Credote.

2. Service Description

Credote operates as a business credit bureau that allows creditors to file reports of unpaid invoices and payment defaults. Our services include:

  • Filing and maintaining records of business payment defaults and invoice disputes
  • Creating public business credit profiles based on reported payment behavior
  • Providing secure payment processing for debt resolution
  • Facilitating communication between creditors and debtors
  • Maintaining a searchable database of business credit information

3. Public Nature of Credit Information

⚠️ Important Notice

All default, creditor, and debtor information filed through our service becomes part of the public record and will be visible to anyone searching our database.

When you file an overdue invoice report, the following information becomes publicly accessible:

  • Business names and addresses of both creditor and debtor
  • Invoice amounts, dates, and payment terms
  • Payment history and resolution status
  • Communication records related to the debt
  • Any dispute information and resolutions

This information is intended to help businesses make informed decisions about extending credit and conducting business relationships.

4. Payment Processing and Fees

4.1 Payment Facilitation

When you file an overdue invoice, we provide the debtor with a secure payment link through our platform. This allows for quick and easy resolution of outstanding debts.

4.2 Debtor Convenience Fees

We may charge debtors a convenience fee for processing payments through our platform. This fee helps cover the cost of providing secure payment processing and immediate credit report updates.

4.3 Creditor Payment Processing Fees

When payments are processed through our platform, we charge creditors a payment processing fee as detailed on our pricing page. By filing an overdue invoice through our service, you agree to these processing fees.

💡 No Direct Payment Fees

If the debtor pays you directly (outside our platform), no payment processing fees are charged by Credote.

5. Data Permanence and Removal

Credit report data filed through our service is intended to be permanent and will not be removed except in the following circumstances:

  • The information is found to be factually incorrect or untruthful
  • The report was filed in error or without proper authorization
  • Legal requirements mandate removal
  • Successful dispute resolution that includes agreed-upon record modification

Payment of an outstanding debt will update the status to “Resolved” but the original default record will remain visible as part of the business's credit history.

6. User Responsibilities

6.1 Creditor Responsibilities

  • Ensure all information filed is accurate and truthful
  • Have proper documentation supporting the claimed debt
  • Comply with all applicable debt collection laws
  • Respond promptly to legitimate disputes
  • Update payment status when debts are resolved

6.2 Debtor Responsibilities

  • Review reported information for accuracy
  • File disputes promptly if information is incorrect
  • Communicate in good faith regarding legitimate debts
  • Make payments as agreed or negotiate alternative arrangements

7. Dispute Resolution

We provide a dispute resolution process for businesses that believe information in their credit report is inaccurate. Disputes must be filed through our platform with supporting documentation.

We offer both standard (free) and urgent (paid) dispute processing options. Urgent disputes receive priority handling and faster resolution times.

8. Limitation of Liability

Credote provides this service “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for:

  • The accuracy of information provided by users
  • Business decisions made based on credit report information
  • Disputes between creditors and debtors
  • Compliance with local debt collection laws (user responsibility)
  • Technical issues that may temporarily affect service availability

9. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
